Welcome to Year 6!
Your teacher is Mr Phillips and your teaching assistant is Miss Hill.
Please see below for useful information about Year 6, including homework, ways to support your child’s learning at home, and helpful websites and resources that you may need throughout the year.PE
Year 6 will have PE on Tuesdays and Fridays until the February half term, with swimming taking place on Fridays.
After the February half term, once swimming has finished, PE will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Children should bring the correct kit into school on these days and change into it after lunch, ready for their lesson.
PE Kit:
- Plain black shorts, leggings or joggers
- Plain white t-shirt
- Plain black hoodie or school jumper
- Trainers or pumps
Homework
Children are expected to complete the following homework regularly:
- Spellings – Children will be given 10 spellings each week to learn and practise at home.
- Reading – Children should read at home at least three times each week for 10–15 minutes. Regular reading will help to develop fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills. Children are expected to have their reading record completed to show when they have read at home. Reading records should be brought into school every day.
- Arithmetic Practice – Children should regularly practise their arithmetic skills at home using MathsBot to help improve their speed, accuracy and confidence.
- Half-Term Projects – Children will also be given a project to complete each half term. Further information and guidance about each project will be shared closer to the time.
Occasionally, additional homework may be sent home to help children practise and consolidate learning taking place in class.
