As a staff team, we believe we can more effectively meet your child’s needs if we work together. We value your input as your child’s primary carer, and as an expert on your child. We rely on your partnership, so together we can provide your child with the highest quality education and care. This will make their time at school happy and enjoyable.
Every morning, staff are available at the entrances into school for you to pass on quick messages or ask questions. If you need a more private moment, or need to speak to your child’s teacher at length, you are very welcome to make an appointment.

Year 1 Class Rules
Attendance
It is so important for the children to have a good attendance record. One day missed can have a significant impact on a child's learning.
'The more we do the better we get.'
At St. James, we have many rewards to acknowledge children attending school daily.
Water Bottles
Please can the children bring a named water bottle to school every day. We do encourage the children to drink water to help with hydration and concentration.
Homework
Reading
Each child will be given their own book bag. This book bag needs to in school EVERYDAY.
At St James we aim for each child to have a love of books and reading. We will be encouraging children to read each day in school. To support your child's reading at home, we ask that they read to an adult at home, 3 or more times a week. We ask that you record each time they read in their reading record to enable them to work towards and achieve their rainbow reading badges. We will check their reading records every day to ensure these targets are being met.
